(NYSE stock ticker: VSH) has announced the launch of five new devices of different sizes and strength levels - the IHPT1411AFELR73ABA, IHPT1207AGELR39AB0, IHPT1710ACEL1R2AB0, IHPT1411AFELR73AB0 and IHPT1614ACEL2R7BB0, expanding the IHPT touch feedback actuator product line with solenoid valve structure (with Immersion). Vishay Custom Magnetics actuators operate at 12 V and are suitable for use in automotive and commercial human-machine interface (HMI) LCD displays, touchscreens, touch switches, and push-button control panels, and feature high pulse and vibration capabilities for crisp, high-definition (HD) haptic feedback.

The recently released devices are available in four form factors from 29 mm x 21 mm to 44 mm x 37 mm, have variable force outputs up to 120 N, and feature a small two-piece construction with mounting holes for easy installation and direct operation. The actuator has a fast response time of 5 ms, combines high mechanical force for high resolution tactile effects, and operates from 8 V to 16 V. The IHPT actuator is suitable for use in harsh and noisy environments where audio signals are insufficient to convey actuation information to the user. The devices feature a robust, rigid copper and iron core construction and can operate at temperatures up to +105 C to meet the high reliability requirements of demanding applications.

Electromagnetic devices are rated to operate at voltages as low as 12 V, eliminating the need for additional high-voltage circuitry required by other technologies. As a result, the IHPT family costs less than comparable technologies such as linear resonance, linear broadband, eccentric rotating mass and piezoelectric actuators, while reducing component height and providing higher force density. The devices are bundled with an Immersion licence and complex haptic effects do not require a separate licence purchase, simplifying the design process and further reducing costs.

The IHPT actuator can drive 0.5 kg loads up to 6 g acceleration at 12 V, 5 ms pulse conditions. The drive coil inductance is 1.8 mH, typical DC resistance (DCR) is 0.95, and insulation between coil and core is 150 VDC. The device is RoHS and Vishay Green compliant, halogen-free, and terminated with standard leads of 100 % immersion solder.
